Essential Oils 101

It probably hasn’t taken you long to realize I’m a huge essential oils enthusiast. I’m not quite sure why it took me so long to commit to a chemical-free life or why I didn’t start my oily journey sooner, but I’m sure if I had started earlier it wouldn’t have led me to where I am today.

It scares me the number of toxic chemicals that are still approved for use in commercial products in the Unites States that have been banned in other parts of the world. Endocrine disruptors, hormone disruptors, reproductive disruptors, cancer and more have all been linked to chemicals that are commonly found in the cupboards of our homes. Less than a quarter of the chemicals in thousands of common household products have been subjected to a full safety investigation. Products that we use on ourselves, our kids, our pets every day. Make-up. Sunscreen. Lotion. Insect repellent. Cleaners. Laundry Detergent. Shampoo. Conditioner. Air fresheners. Candles. Do you REALLY know what’s in those products you’re buying? Probably not, as it’s not mandatory for companies in the US to disclose every ingredient they put in their products. (I had no idea!)

Most women unknowingly apply more than 300 chemicals to their bodies every single day. 80 of those before breakfast.

Those statistics BLOW.MY.MIND.

I’m *not* saying essential oils are medicine. I’m *not* saying they cure or treat. I *am* saying it’s essential to be an advocate for your and your family’s health and wellness and be the gatekeeper to your home. Nobody else is going to do that.

If you’re interested in learning how essential oils can benefit you and your family, I’m doing an Essential Oils 101 Class on Facebook in a few weeks. You can join it here.

I’ll go over what essential oils are, ways to use them, safety, etc. There’s always a giveaway, too. *wink wink*

I hope you can join me! It’s a pretty laid back environment to ask your questions and make an informed, not pressure based, decision on essential oils. Feel free to invite your friends!
